Fortunately, more church leaders and lay members are recognizing
the great need to minister to couples, parents and families in their
congregations and communities. However, they often do not know where
to turn for the necessary resources and assistance to meet this
need. In addition, in order to remain responsive and relevant to
their members and the culture, churches are increasingly aware of
the need to address the concerns of various types of families. These
types include not only first-marriages, biological parents, and
intact families, but also remarrieds, single and adopted parents,
stepfamilies, and those living together unmarried.

Couples, parents, and families in our churches and communities
are in great need of support, encouragement, and skills. In addition, those who
serve families need to be equipped with the resources and training necessary to
address the complexities of family life.
Today's family has changed and will likely continue to do
so in the future. As those who serve and minister to families, we must continue
to strengthen first-time marriages, biological parents, and intact families. At
the same time, we must equip ourselves to respond to the needs of single parents,
stepfamilies, empty nesters and the growing number of individuals cohabiting outside
of marriage.
To address these great needs, a number of today's leading
writers, speakers and counselors have come together to develop the Association
of Marriage and Family Ministries (AMFM). The purpose of this conference is to
train and equip marriage and family helping professionals, ministers, and lay
leaders.
To do so, we have partnered with the experts to showcase
the finest in marriage and family training and resources available today, as well
as those that are emerging with new and creative ideas. The conference will equip,
train, encourage, resource and support you as a leader in your work with couples,
parents, and the full spectrum of family types.
Conference Learning Objectives
- Identify challenges that families are facing today.
- Discuss effective strategies to assist couples, parents
and families.
- Describe the effects of divorce, loss/grief, remarriage,
and/or empty-nest on marriage and individual family members.
- State the challenges of working with couples, single-parent and/or stepfamilies.
- Summarize several ways to best serve families in your setting.

Thank you for a great
conference. As last year, we were educated, inspired, revitalized,
and excited to continue and go on with our ministry at East Bay
Fellowship.
Priscilla
God is definitely moving in bringing his leaders
together. I was amazed at how hungry God’s leaders were to
be challenged to go out there and tell people that “Your marriage
can be saved!” Several stated that they had not felt the empowerment
or permission to be as bold as God was leading them to be. It seemed
that many were simply needing affirmation of what to do.
Mitch - Colorado Springs
Concerning the conference: We loved it. We have
been married 43 years and have been very active in marriage ministry
i.e. preaching, conferences and retreats. We received your publicity
last spring and Golden said we need to be “updated”.
She was right and we were! The workshops were very informative and
the general sessions worshipful and inspiring. You and Eric and
your team did a great job.
